Welcome to the Upstate Steamers page!

We are a group of "small scale" live steam enthusiasts, from various areas around
Central NY, Western NY, and Southern Ontario, who get together several times a year for "steamups"! 

We are not an "official" club..there are no dues, no officers, none of that.
We just like to get together to run trains!

Anyone is welcome at the steamups. have an engine to run?
bring it over and boil some water!
just want to stop by to watch trains? thats fine too! 

We operate "G gauge" live steam locomotives, operating on 45mm track.
(we often have 32mm track available as well.)

"Live Steam" means that these models are powered by fire and water! just like full-size steam locomotives. Various types of fuel (butane, alcohol, even real coal!) heats up the water in the boiler, the heated water turns to steam, the expanding steam pushes the pistons in  the cylinders, which then turn the wheels! no electricity needed!

February 2 & 3 -  Greenberg's Train and Toy Show at the Dome Center, Henrietta.
(Sat&Sun)                      Tom's track will be set up both days at the show, live steam will
                                       be running!
                                       "The dome center" is at the Monroe County fairgrounds,
                                        south side of Rochester.

April 5 & 6 (Sat&Sun) - Bristol's Garden Center steamup. Victor, NY
                                          The Upstate Steamers, along with Genesee G Gauge,
                                           will have two G-gauge displays running! Electric and Live Steam.
                                           Bristol's Garden Center is on Route 96 in Victor, South East
                                           side of Rochester.
 
 

April 26 (Saturday) Chick Day Steamup.
                                        Our second year at Higbies!
                                       "Chick Day" at Higbie Farm Supplies, 3440 South Union Street,
                                        North Chili, NY. 
                                        "Chick Day" is an annual event commemorating
                                        the spring hatching of baby chickens and ducks!

                                        Live steamers will be running 10:00 - 2:00.
                                        1:1 scale CSX trains also run right next to Higbie's!
                                        Chili, NY is south-west of Rochester.

May 17 (Saturday) - Train Races at Ridge Road Station!
                                      The twice-yearly event. Steamers running 10:00 - 4:00.
                                       Ridge Road Station is west of Rochester on route 104.
 
 

August (date tbd)-   The Big Event! The annual summer steamup at Paradise East.
                                       email Ron for details and directions. don't miss this one!
